WEATHERING THE STORM

THE CURRENT weather has hit fixtures of all our teams in the various divisions of the DDSL.

Nearly every side has suffered a postponement during the last two or three weekends and this week it looks like that there will be more.

However, some games did get the go ahead.

AFTER STRUGGLING to get to grips with life in the 14's Premier Division, Billy Shortt's team have finally turned around their recent indifferent form to record two wins on the trot.

The first of which was a superb 1-0 home win against St Kevin's Boys, followed by an impressive 4-0 away win against WFTA.

The most pleasing thing about the wins for Billy and his lads were the two clean sheets and that the work on the training pitch is beginning to finally pay off.

BRIAN DALTON'S 16's kept in touch with the leaders of the 16's MMI Premier Division. They are now only one point off the current top two Belvedere and Cherry Orchard.

Brian's lads eked out a hard earned 1-0 win away to St Francis in Baldonnell to consolidate fourth place in that division.

They survived an early penalty shout from the home team and some heavy pressure at times to take a grip of the game 20 minutes into the second half. Barry Kenny latched onto and scored the only goal of the game from the rebound of Des Cowan's previously blocked effort.

We hope the St Francis' goalkeeper and left back make a full recovery after both players accidentally collided with each other and had to be substituted when neither player recovered sufficiently to continue.
