Eircom Snub Richmond Park

Richmond Park was due to play host to a friendly match between a representative team of the Irish Journalists and their Swiss counterparts before next weeks international in Dublin. Today, the club was informed that an alternative venue had been chosen.

St Pat's Chief Executive, Bernard O'Byrne, tonight told stpatsfc.com, that “the club were asked to play host to this match next week and despite having an important game against UCD a few days later the Club obliged. “Just today we were contacted to say that they had found an alternative venue!”

It seems that the event's sponsors, and National League sponsors, Eircom, are unhappy with the venue because of the large amount of ‘Smart Telecom', St Pats official sponsors, advertisements placed throughout the ground.

We thought the league sponsors equally support all members of the league. It seems some are more equal than others.
