Saints 1-1 Linfield

The Saints began their 2010 season by holding a Linfield side, who are half way through theirs, to a draw in Richmond Park in the Setanta Sports Cup.

Pete Mahon's side were second best in the first half but took the lead after fifteen minutes against the run of play.

Alex Williams poked home the opener after a Gareth Coughlan free-kick lead to a scramble in the box.

Linfield were level twenty minutes later when Jim Ervin converted from the spot after Damian Lynch had fouled Jamie Tomelty in the box.

Both sides had chances in the second half to win the game with Ryan Guy going closest seeing his header saved by Man of the March Alan Blayney.
