PITCH WORK CONTINUES AT RICHMOND PARK

With the season finished and a number of recent community matches completed, now is the time for the ground-staff to undertake some much needed repair and maintenance work on the Richmond Park pitch.

Head grounds-man Anto Maguire explains – “the pitch has taken on a lot of water in recent weeks and we are now spiking the pitch to let air to the roots.

Usually the spikes just go down an inch or two but this time they are going fully down which just shows how soft the ground has become.

With dry weather forecasted and hopefully a bit of wind it should help get some of the dampness off out of the ground - it's all part of the process of getting the pitch ready again for next season”.

Maintenance work on the pitch and on the ground will continue over the coming weeks and months and a big thank you to our community employment staff as well as our weekly placement people who help support this work.
