DARRAGH RYAN VISITS INCHCIORE SOCCER CAMP

Train hard, listen to your coaches and enjoy your football was the message given by Pat's player Darragh Ryan to young footballers at a summer Camp in the CIE grounds in Inchicore last week.

Son of former Irish international Gerry Ryan, Darragh started his career with Brighton and Hove Albion in the UK.

He outlined how he started in football and how he made the move to the League of Ireland to play with UCD, Cork and now St Pat's.

He talked about returning to his old club down in Cork at the start of the season and how scoring the winning goal in the match brought special satisfaction.

He added that he hoped that the goal would still stand at the end of the season and that Cork City can recover from their present financial difficulties.

As many of the young players present play with underage clubs including our own Pat's schoolboys, Darragh highlighted the importance of looking after yourself and “not overdoing it on the burgers and chips”.

As he now lives in Inchciore he told them to be sure to give him a big hello if they see him out and about around the village.

All participants on the FAI Summer Camp course were invited as guests of the club to St Pat's Sunday nights' match against Dundalk FC.
