THIRTEEN’S MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT

Congratulations to our Under 13's who last night secured promotion to the Major division. Following their emphatic 5-1 demolition away to Phoenix they confirmed they will be taking one of the automatic promotion places on offer.

At the start of the season few would have guessed this young side would gel as well as they have in recent weeks. The season started well with wins at home to Belvedere and Ratoath but was followed by a home loss to Palmerstown Rangers.

A good run followed with three wins on the road away to Mullingar Athletic, Ballybrack Boys and Ratoath but just as it looked like a serious promotion challenge could be mounted a diastorous run over the Christmas period saw the 13's only take a point in a 2-2 draw with Kilnamanagh and lose their next two games.

It could have all ended there but their next match with Mount Merrion was the kick-start of their march towards promotion. The 5-0 win was followed by a 2-2 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Mountview Boys and then the next eight games yielded eight wins and an incredible 37 goals to finally seal promotion.

Now brimming with confidence the team can now focus on trying to win the league with Mountview Boys as their only challengers.

Congratulations to manager Christy O'Sullivan, Brian James and the players on their promotion.
