16As PROMOTION HOPES

DON'T FALL BY THE WAYSIDE
St Pat's under 16A side survived a tumultuous first half against Wayside Celtic in their League clash on Sunday last.
Hoping to push themselves into the promotion race the Saints were rocked and found themselves two goals down at the break.

Nothing had gone right from the off. However a few words at the break asking the players to be first to the ball, to make their passes count and take their chances when they came galvanized the team.

The second half was a lot better. Now contesting for possession the game began to turn the way of Pats.

Glen Murphy pulled a goal back with his shot from just outside the box. Then Keith Mulvaney equalized with a spectacular overhead kick. The equalizing goal saw the Saints grow stronger as Wayside waned.

Alan Condon took advantage of Wayside losing their way adding the Saints third while the captain Ryan Dunne sealed the win scoring the fourth to complete the amazing turnaround.

The hard earned win keeps the team in second place and in contention for promotion.
