LATVIAN STRIKER SIGNS FOR SAINTS

Latvia striker Gints Friemanis who scored for St Patrick's Athletic in their mid-week friendly against Chelsea has today signed for the club.

Friemanis had previously played with FK Riga found himself without a club earlier this year when his move to Cork City failed to materialise, “it was disappointing not to be playing football but I have been working hard to maintain my fitness levels and I am delighted to have the opportunity now to play for St Pats”.

Having impressed on Wednesday night the 23 year old believes that he has a lot more to offer - “my last game for FK Riga was some months ago against Elfsborg in the Inter Toto Cup and the other night while I found myself getting into good positions I felt I needed to be sharper and to work more on my finishing”.

Gints is looking forward to making his mark with St Pat's over the coming season – “I have two weeks to fully build up my fitness levels and then I should be flying, I want to win every game, I really don't like to lose”.
