SAINTS SEARCH FOR SEMI-FINAL SPOT

Sporting Fingal make the short trip across the city this Friday as they take on St Patrick's Athletic in the FAI Ford Cup Quarter Final Replay.

The two sides played out a six goal thriller in Morton Stadium a fortnight ago when a late penalty from Colm James earned Fingal a second chance against the Saints.

Jason Gavin must sit this one out for Pats as he is cup-tied along with Derek O'Brien having played in previous rounds for Drogheda United and Galway United respectively.

While its Fingal's first year in the competition, St Pats will be looking to make the semi finals of a competition they haven't won since 1961.

Manager John McDonnell spoke to stpatsfc.com and is hoping home advantage will see his side through.

“With a place in the FAI Cup semi-finals at stake it's a big game for both teams.

“We let it slip in the first game conceding a goal in the last minute which was disappointing, but playing at home I‘d like to think that Sporting Fingal have had their chance.

“Hopefully we'll get the result, push on from there and see where that leaves us in the Cup.”

McDonnell is also set to be without Stephen Paisley (groin), John Murphy (back), Dave Partridge and Bobby Ryan (both shoulder) but Damien Lynch should be fit despite picking up a knock against Derry on Tuesday evening.

Tickets for tomorrow's game are currently available from Richmond Park.
